Whats the difference between the army and marines? please no "omg marines are better" or "army would pwn them"?

I have been trying to figure out key differences between the two. Like whats the difference between the duties and missions. And please do not give me the response army holds all the territories and marines attack. Cause I know that's not true. For i want to know the key differences before i choose which one to do commission in college
