If you were doing a project (ignment) what does it mean by introduction?

I dont undestand what to write in it, its a project on the structure, finction and the ageing of the skin, but I dont undestand what they mean by an introduction, because an introduction is usally about yourself, but I think this may be an introduction to the project could you give me some ideas please?
