Encryption Help???????

I've been hearing a lot of things about encryption, on shows and in real life. I find it really cool, and want to encrypt my files. I have never used anything involving encryption before. Can someone please give me a URL to a website that gives me a free, good encryption thing. Also, I will want to be able to encrypt them, and then decrypt them, so I can acess them again.
